Smartagent supports service staff at the Steigenberger Hotel
29.08.2017 - TREKSTOR Smartagent supports service staff at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt: Robust B2B smartwatch with Windows 10 IoT Core successfully corresponds to SAMFEX wearable Hotelsoftware
The new TREKSTOR Smartagent supports the team at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt in housekeeping, customer service and technology. The Smart Wearable, which is equipped with the Windows 10 IoT Core operating system, uses the mobile hotel software SAMFEX wearable from Mellex AG. Now the employees exchange their information in real time and coordinate the service processes. The receptionist can forward information such as the request for luggage service, in real time to the Bellboy or a room to be cleaned directly to the room cleaning. At the same time, the hotel staff can ask for additional drinks for the mini-bar or announce a room ready for occupancy.
"With the direct transmission of this information in real time, we save a few working hours in various operating departments every day, and can also provide our guests with a more efficient and better service," says Michael Weil, Hotel Manager Operations at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt.
The communication options of the IoT-Wearables are numerous: the TREKSTOR Smartwatch is controlled via the touch-screen, which can also be operated with gloves, or voice commands. Via the integrated microphone, voice messages can also be sent and, for example, explanations for repair or cleaning work can be passed on to the appropriate staff in a short and precise manner. A loudspeaker and a strong vibration alarm ensure that the user does not miss any notice. Information is immediately exchanged and retrieved. A 5 megapixel camera is available for documentation of damage or defects.
The distance between the 550 rooms and suites as well as 40 meeting rooms of the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt bridges the TREKSTOR Smartagent wirelessly via dual band WLAN. It also offers Bluetooth including NFC. The built-in lithium-polymer battery has a capacity of 430 mAh. The runtime - depending on which enterprise software is in use - easily runs an 8-hour shift. An LED informs about the current charging status.
The TREKSTOR Smartagent has a Qualcomm® (APQ 8009) quad-core Cortex-A7 processor with up to 1.3 GHz clocking and 1 GB internal storage. The IoT Smartwatch also houses an 8 GB flash memory. The installed components perform demanding tasks without unpleasant heat development on the wrist.
The 1.54-inch display with robust Gorilla Glass 3 combines practicality and comfort. Thanks to a screen resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, it represents content clearly. With 47 x 44 x 12 mm and 60 g, the Smartwatch has the look of a watch at the same time. Particularly when working in gastronomy, in the service or cleaning service it is a plus, as the inconspicuous Smartagent does not impair the freedom of movement and the hands are always free. This advantage is underlined by the high durability. The Wearable offers the IP67 protection class and withstands a 30-minute bath up to a maximum of 1 meter of water depth, humidity, dust and extreme temperatures. In addition, a gyroscope and a 3-axis acceleration sensor are on board. This makes it a multifunctional communication interface - whether in the cold store, heating cellar or in the kitchen.
Operating system of the smart wristband is Windows 10 IoT Core. The apps of the Smartagents are based on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and can also run on other Windows 10 devices such as Microsoft HoloLens via an adaptive layout. Likewise, the Watch is optimally matched to the cloud platform Microsoft Azure, so that cloud services such as Azure IoT Hub and Azure Machine Learning can be used. The Smartagent equips every business for the Internet of Things. Information on price and availability as well as technical details about TREKSTOR Smartagent can be found at
