EuroCIS 2018: TREKSTOR presents Smartagent

30.01.2018 - EuroCIS 2018: TREKSTOR launches IoT Wearable Smartagent and shows how easy it can be to optimize business resources

From 27th February to 1st March 2018, TREKSTOR will present its Smartagent at the Düsseldorf EuroCIS, which can be seen live in Hall 9, F39. The smartwatch running under Windows 10 IoT Core has a lot of potential and can be used to increase the efficiency of various processes in the company: for example communication, resource management or various security aspects, such as access controls, time management and tracking. It is a smart solution for a wide variety of industries and applications.

On the Smartagent, for example, the salesperson is informed when a customer needs help at the POS. At the touch of a button, the potential buyer can signal his request for advice and the next available employee can accept the request. In conversation, he then sees whether the desired product, such as a T-shirt, is in stock - he can see the available colors, what materials it is made of or which other products are recommended by the designer for combination. The Smartagent can be used simultaneously by the Store Manager to pass on directives and work schedules to its employees in real time. It can be about the occupation of a cash register or the granting of the goods in the warehouse. At the touch of a finger, the employee can then signalize that he has completed the task assigned to him. The TREKSTOR Smartwatch also supports direct communication between machines and employees: Thus, the deposit return vending machine sends a message directly when it must be emptied and the bread baking station gives information, if no blanks are in stock. Waiting times are reduced and customer satisfaction increased.

"In implementing the Smartagent, it was important to us to make the platform as open as possible," explains Hendrik Unkel, General Manager at TREKSTOR. "By using Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Core, we allow our partners and customers to tailor their solutions to their needs, linking them to existing systems and data sources such as Microsoft Azure. This allows rapid integration into a variety of environments."

The Smartagent uses a Qualcomm® (APQ 8009) quad-core Cortex-A7 processor with up to 1.3 GHz and 1 GB RAM. Data processing and communication are quick and reliable on the Internet of Things. Likewise, the IoT smartwatch houses an 8 GB flash memory.

The 1.54-inch display with Gorilla Glass 3 dissolves with 320 x 320 pixels and thus shows content clearly. With dimensions of 47 x 44 x 12 mm and 60 g, the Smartagent is a combination of practicality and comfort. Especially when working in the gastronomy or logistics, the practicality is an important plus. This is underlined by the great durability. Due to IP67 protection the aluminum housing withstands extreme temperatures (from -20° C to + 60° C) and also humidity, dust and a short immersion up to a depth of 1 meter. The robust silicone wristband is available in different colors. Alternatively, the Smartagent can also be used in a silicone case for hanging. This makes it a multifunctional communication interface - whether in the icehouse, on the construction site or in the large kitchen.

Communication is wireless via dual band WLAN, Bluetooth or NFC. To survive a classic working day, the built-in lithium-polymer battery has a capacity of 430 mAh and informes by LED, among other things, about the current charging status.

To control the TREKSTOR Smartagent, a touch display - which can also be operated with gloves - or voice instructions via the integrated microphone are available. At the same time, voice messages can be sent with the smart wristband. A loudspeaker and a strong vibration alarm ensure that the user does not miss a notification. In seconds, information is exchanged and retrieved. For documentation, the user can additionally access a 5-megapixel camera. For example, videos or photos with autofocus will help to make the machine's error message visible at a glance. There is also a gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer included.

The basis for the professional use of the intelligent bracelet is Windows 10 IoT Core with its compatibility with Universal Windows Applications. The operating system with individually customizable user profiles enables a detailed definition of read and write access rights and comprehensive information management. Likewise, the Smartwatch is optimally tuned to Microsoft Azure, the flexible cloud computing platform for businesses. On request, the necessary information is not only available within the company's own business premises, but also in real time in the field office on the other side of the world.
