My SurfTab won’t charge. What do I do?

Check whether your SurfTab is properly connected to the charger. If your device still does not charge, connect it to your computer using the USB cable provided. This will allow you to determine whether the charger or battery is defective.

My SurfTab is not responding. What do I do?

If you can no longer use the device or if the device no longer responds to input, reset the device. Press and hold down the on/off button until the device switches off. Wait for about 20 seconds and then turn the device on normally.

Can I upgrade my SurfTab to a newer version of Android™?

If a firmware upgrade is available for your device, you can download it on our homepage under ‘Downloads’. A firmware upgrade may also be downloaded directly to your device via OTA, depending on your device.

Tip: Do not install any firmware on your device unless it is provided by us. Installing external firmware or custom ROMs may result in a loss of all warranty claims!

How do I download apps using Google Play?

You must sign in using a Gmail account to use the Google Play Store. You can sign in to your account when you open the Play Store app for the first time. If you do not yet have a Gmail account, you can set one up now.

Why does my SurfTab show less storage space than indicated on the packaging?

The storage capacity stated on the packaging and in the technical specifications refers to the total storage capacity of your device. However, a portion of the total storage is also used by the operating system and system applications.

Which eBook formats are compatible with my SurfTab?

The device supports all commercial eBook formats. However, you must install an appropriate app in order to read eBooks on your SurfTab. You can download these apps from a number of different providers. Consult the program specifications to determine which formats are compatible with the app you have selected.

Which video container formats can I play on my SurfTab ventos 10.1?

If you transfer video files to the SurfTab using a USB cable or microSD card, the SurfTab will recognise the following formats: AVI, MKV, MOV. Depending on the video playback app you are using, your device may also be able to play additional video formats.

Which audio formats can I play on my SurfTab xiron 7.0 HD?

If you transfer audio files to the SurfTab using a USB cable or microSD card, the SurfTab will recognise the following formats: AAC, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV. Depending on the music playback app you are using, your device may also be able to play additional audio formats.

My SurfTab has both front and back cameras. How do I switch between the two cameras?

In the camera settings (see instructions), look for a camera symbol surrounded by an arrow. Tap this symbol to switch back and forth between the two cameras.

My SurfTab switches on when I connect it to a power source. Is this normal?

Yes, this is perfectly normal. It allows you to see the charge level of the device. If you perform no further actions, the SurfTab will switch to standby mode as it continues to charge.

How do I access external storage devices (USB stick, SD card)?

When you connect an external storage device, the SurfTab displays a message to the effect that a device has been connected. Once this message is no longer visible, you can use a file explorer app (such as ‘ES File Explorer’ or ‘FileBrowser’ etc., available from the Google Play Store) to access and manage your data (copy, delete, edit).

How do I add more storage space to my SurfTab?

Your SurfTab has a memory card slot. Insert a card in order to add internal storage to your SurfTab. Please consult the technical details of your SurfTab to learn which cards are compatible with your SurfTab (in the technical data on the website (most up to date) or in the detailed operating instructions). These cards can be purchased in any electronics store.

Please note that it is not possible to guarantee 100 per cent compatibility of microSD cards (see “Why doesn’t my SurfTab recognise my microSD memory card?”).

Can I install apps that I have downloaded onto my SurfTab on external storage devices, such as SD cards, USB stick, etc.?

No, this is not possible. You can install apps only on the SurfTab.

How do I connect my SurfTab to a Wi-Fi network? (Android™ 4.1.1 / 4.2.2)

a) Go to the application menu to "Settings". In the left menu column, you will find the option "Wi-Fi".
b) Touch "Wi-Fi". The menu option now appears backed with colour.

f ) The SurfTab now connects to the wireless network and beyond that with the internet. Via a browser you can surf the internet as normal.

-> If you have once established a connection to a Wi-Fi network, the SurfTab automatically connects to it as soon as it is within reach. You do not have to re-enter the Password.

-> To save power, it is advisable to turn off the wireless function, if you do not need it.

b) Tap ‘HDMI’.
c) Tap ‘Enable dual display’ and ‘Enable dual switch’ or ‘Turn on HDMI’ (depending on the model). A check mark appears next to the option.

How do I reset my SurfTab to the factory settings?

a) Open the applications menu and tap ‘Settings’.

b) Scroll down in the menu and tap the ‘Backup & reset’ option.

c) Then tap ‘Factory data reset’ and confirm this option.

Note that selecting this option will delete all data that has been subsequently installed (apps, login information, e-mail accounts etc.). This does not affect data stored on an external storage device.

The display of my SurfTab flickers! What is the reason for this and what can I do about it?

This is a setting in the Development Settings of the Android operating system serving for programmers to visualize which part of the screen is being updated.
This setting can be easily deactivated via the menu item "Dev Tools" -> "Development Settings" -> "Show screen updates" by un-checking the box.

The Android Debug Bridge (ADB) is not recognising my SurfTab. How should I proceed to enable access?

Firstly, make sure that the USB debugging mode is activated in the SurfTab developer options. If the developer options are not displayed, go to "Settings" -> "About Tablet" and tap "Build number" until "Developer options" appears under "System" (under Android™ 5.1.1 as a new option in "Settings"). Ensure that you have already installed and configured the latest Android SDK.

For Windows:
Go to the Windows device manager and check whether there is a device marked with a yellow exclamation mark (!) that corresponds to your tablet. Right click this entry and select "Properties". In the "Driver" tab, click "Update driver's software". In the window that follows, select the option "Browse my computer for driver software" and enter the path where the unzipped TrekStor "android_winusb" driver is located. If you receive a message during installation that prompts you to not install this driver, confirm with "Install this driver software".

Windows and MAC OS X:
It is now necessary to configure the ADB for the TrekStor tablet. You must add the TrekStor Vendor-ID (0x1e68) to the "adb_usb.ini" file in the hidden ".android" folder. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. Open the command prompt and enter the command "echo 0x1e68 >> $HOME/.android/adb_usb.ini".
2. Now check whether the device has been recognised by opening "cmd.exe" and entering the commands "adb kill-server" and "adb devices" in succession.

1. Open the terminal window and enter the command "echo 0x1e68 >> $HOME/.android/adb_usb.ini".
2. Now check whether the device has been recognised by opening „Terminal“ and entering the commands "adb kill-server" and "adb devices" in succession.
