TrekStor unveils new premium MP3 player at IFA

New disk based MP3 player "TrekStor vibez" offers extravagant design, up to 15 GB storage and 20 hours playing time

Berlin/Lorsch, 28.08.2006 – TrekStor, the leading manufacturer of high quality MP3 players, external hard disks and USB sticks will be unveiling the latest highlight of its MP3 player portfolio, the disk based TrekStor vibez, at the Berlin IFA from September 1-6, 2006 (Hall 2.1, Stand 142). This premium MP3 player has a stunning, unusually slender and elegant form that was commissioned specially from a design studio in Munich. The TrekStor vibez also has a Lithium ion rechargeable battery that not only offers 20 hours’ music bliss but is also replaceable. The new player can further be upgraded with an optional FM tuner card for those who like listening to the radio. The dimensions of the TrekStor vibez, at just 105x50x18 millimeters, make it extremely slender and sexy. The new showpiece is available with 8-15 gigabytes (GB) storage capacity – enough for up to 300 albums or 4,200 songs.

With this new MP3 player, the Lorsch based company will be presenting a long desired product. “We talked extensively with our customers to find out their wishes before developing the TrekStor vibez," says Daniel Szmigiel, chief executive of TrekStor GmbH & Co. KG in Lorsch. “The new MP3 player is a real eye catcher in avant-garde design and absolutely state of the art from a technical viewpoint. We have also integrated numerous features and worked closely with US MP3 chip manufacturer SigmaTel – whose brand new generation of chip sets act as the basis for our latest player."

Features for every man’s taste
The exterior of the TrekStor vibez is characterized by an oval, soft touch, non-slip casing, a curved, stainless steel flipside and two large round surfaces on the front. The bright, full color TFT display is located in the upper circle. Beneath this, there is a magnetic bearing scroll wheel that provides for quick and easy operation via a hierarchically structured pop-up menu.

The new MP3 player not only supports MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG and FLAC files, but also WMA DRM (Digital Rights Management) 9 and 10 formats. This allows songs bought or rented over the Internet to be played without hassle. In accordance with the user’s personal listening habits, the TrekStor vibez’s “DJ mode" automatically compiles play lists at the touch of a button that sort the songs according to the desired mood. Also included are four dynamic visualization effects to suit the music, and a cross fading function that enables the user to blend songs in and out. Line in recording allows the speech to be recorded via the integrated microphone as well as music from other audio devices.

Thanks to the Cover Art function, the full color TFT display with 176 x 132 pixels can show the CD covers of the songs being played. The sort function of the JPEG viewer enables stored photos to be sorted on the vibez by camera model and image recording data. The TrekStor vibez also has quick buttons whose buttons can be assigned personal favorites.

Accessories for every event
The stylishly designed player is available with a range of accessories. Users can call up the player’s most important function quickly via cable remote control. A second set of headphones with independent volume control can be connected to this. The manufacturer also offers a docking station with battery charger and infrared remote control which can be used to connect the gadget to separate speakers or a hi-fi system. The TrekStor vibez is available in three different neoprene covers. As with mobile phones, the rechargeable battery can be exchanged and the manufacturer offers replacement power units for the new player. A video card is also under development and is expected to be available early 2007.

Price and availability
The TrekStor vibez will be available from November 2006 at a retailers recommended price (RRP) of EUR 199.00 (8 GB) or EUR 229.00 (15 GB) from all the usual specialist retail outlets. All quoted prices include VAT (sales tax).
